Michael Fliri was born in South Tyrol, Italy in 1978. He lives in Italy and Vienna/A.

He studied art at the Accademia di Belle Arti Bologna/I, the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Munich/D
and Kunstakademiet Bergen/N.

Michael produces video, photography and sculpture, as well as live performance.

His works were shown in solo and group exhibitions around Europe, including:
Contour Biennale, Mechelen/B (2015), Fondazione Merz, Turin/I; Museion, Bolzano/I;
Mart, Rovereto/I (2015); Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid/E; Contemporary Art Center Luigi Pecci, Prato/I; Biennale Moscow/RUS; Hangar Bicocca, Milan/I; Maison Particulière, Bruxelles/B.

He gave live performances at prestigious museums like Kunsthalle Düsseldorf/D (2015),
the Centre Pompidou, Paris/F (2012), the Generali Foundation, Vienna/A (2010)
and the Ferdinandeum, Innsbruck/A (2014).

Michael received important commissions and realized a gigantic video work for the facade
of the Museion in Bolzano/I (2011). His works are in various public and private collections.

Michael was artist in residence at the Centre des Récollets Paris/F in 2008 (invited by the Dena Foundation) and at the Air in Antwerp/B in 2011 (selected by the Needcompany).
He won the Artist price awarded by the City of Vienna with the Ministry of Culture (2007)
and the ZF Art Award, Friedrichshafen/D (2014).

He is represented by the Galleria Raffaella Cortese in Milan.
